17 alpha-hydroxy-progesterone (17α-OHP) in blood spots from newborns - RIA kit

This assay is very useful for the early diagnosis of congenital hyperadrenalism (21-hydroxylasis deficiency). The 17-OHP-NN kit has been developed for use on dried blood spots. It is used during screening for hyperadrenalism in new-borns, during the first few days after birth.

Features

  • Working range: 0 ? 600 nmol/L
  • Sample: dried blood spot on paper disks
  • Analytical sensitivity: 1 nmol/L

Applications

  • Neo-natal congenital adrenal hyperplasia screening
  • Early diagnosis of congenital adrenal hyperplasia

Assay principle

Double antibody radioimmunoassay RIP

Immunoprecipitating reagent

The principle of the assay is based on competition between 17-OHP radiolabelled with iodine-125 and 17-OHP contained in the sample to be assayed for a given number of anti-17-OHP polyclonal antibody sites. The separation of the free and bound fractions uses an immunoprecipitating reagent in which a second antibody has been preprecipitated in excess.
*Three-step assay procedure: 30 min at RT + 1h at 37°C / shaking + 30 min at 37°C / shaking.
