The ELSA-PTH kit is based on an immunoradiometric assay using two monoclonal antibodies, one labelled with iodine-125 and the other adsorbed onto the ELSA solid phase. The kit gives excellent sensitivity: detection limit 0.7 pg/mL. There is also an alternative protocol for pre-operative use in cases of surgical gland exeresis.

샌드위치에 사용된 항체는 84개의 정상적 아미노산 파라쇼로이드 호르몬의 생물학적 사슬을 인식한다. 분자의 중간 영역과 39-84의 C-터미널 부분에 특정된 단일클론성 항체는 ELSA 고체상에 흡착되어 있다. Iodine 125가 표시된 분자의 1-34의 N-터미널 부분인 다클론성 항체는 추적자로 사용된다.
